Tollywood superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee turns 57
Kolkata: Tollywood superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee, who have been in the Bengali film industry for more than three decades, turned 57 on Monday.
Prosenjit, the son of actor Biswajit Chatterjee, made his debut in the Bengali film industry as a child actor in Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Chotto Jigyasa in 1968.
As a lead actor, Prosenjit made his debut in Bimal Roy's Duti Pata. But his real success came with 1987 film Amar Sangi, a romantic drama which was directed by Sujit Guha.
After emerging as the superstar of Bengali film industry in 1990s, Prosenjit entered into parallel cinema with iconic filmmaker Rituparo Ghosh.
Prosenjit-starrer Chokher Bali, Utsab, Dosar, Noukadubi were the films directed by Ghosh.
The actor had also made his appearance in Bollywood. His first film in the Mumbai film industry was Aandhiyan which released in 1990. He had later acted in Hindi films like Meet Mere Man Ke, Sone Ki Zanjeer, Shanghai.
He has also hosted a number of television shows.
Presently, he is waiting for the release of Srijit Mukherji's Gumnaami where he played the role of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Several Tollywood celebrities were present at the birthday celebration of Prosenjit organised by 21 Pally, Durga Puja, Ballygunge Phari at Hotel Hindustan International (HHI) on Monday. Prosenjit's actress sister Pallavi Chatterjee was also present at the event as the actor sang several of the numbers from his all time commercially popular films.
