Trailer of Kiriti O Kalo Bhromor launched in Kolkata

The film’s cast, Kaushik Sen, Indraneil Sengupta, and Arunima Ghosh were present at the trailer launch.

The film is directed by Anindya Bikas Dutta and the screenplay is by Arijit Biswas.

The trailer revealed Indraneil Sengupta as Kiriti Roy, the detective,and Samadarshi Dutta his assistant, while Arunima Ghosh plays Krishna, Indraneil's love interest. Kaushik Sen plays the role of Kiriti’s adversary.

Speaking about the film, director Anindya Bikas Dutta said: “It had always been a dream of mine to make a film on the Kiriti series, which were so popular at one time. This dream would have never been fulfilled without Camellia Productions Pvt. Ltd. who have been with us throughout.”

Actor Kaushik Sen, at his eloquent best, said that the film will always be particularly close to his heart because for a long time he had wished to be a part of the detective series.

“One upon a time, when television had not made its entry into every home and dusk signalled the time to return home, radio theater was the most popular form of entertainment. Presenter Shrabanti Majumdar was renowned for broadcasting several highly popular shows," said actor Kaushik Sen.

"On one of these shows, my father played a dual role, being ‘Kalo Bhromor’ and Dr Sanyal (characters in the Kiriti series). Just listening to him modulate his voice to fit the individual characters made me want to read the novels. Since then, I have always yearned to perform one of the characters myself," added Sen.

Actress Arunima Ghosh, who plays Kiriti’s wife Krishna, said that she was very excited and honoured to be a part of the film as it is the first film to be based on the series.

“The trailer has a very stylised and edgy look and shooting for the film was great. Working with veterans like Kaushik Sen and Indraneil made me want to give my best and it was a learning experience as well,” said Ghosh, who has several other projects in the pipeline this year.

Actor Indraneil Sengupta, who essays the role of detective Kiriti Roy, said that playing the character was both a challenge and a blessing in different ways.  There is always a chance that with Feluda and Byomkesh is etched so firmly in the mind of the Bengali audience, Kiriti may have to fight hard to find a footing.

“The Bengali audience has now seen a number of detectives being played by different actors in their individual styles. But they have accepted all of them. It also proves that the Bengali audience has an insatiable appetite for Bengali crime thrillers," said Sengupta

“I had always wanted to play a detective and essaying Kiriti, who is so different from the other detectives, was a very happy experience for me”, said the actor. He also highlighted that it is natural to compare any particular characterisation with others from the same genre. Chances of Kiriti being compared to Sherlock was perhaps more than that of being measured against Byomkesh and Feluda," he said.

The audience found the trailer gripping enough with an edgy menacing feel to it. It remains to be seen how the audience at large accepts
