Veteran director K. Balachander hospitalized

Chennai, Dec 15 (IBNS): Veteran film-maker and Dada Saheb Phalke Award winner K. Balachander, who was hospitalized on Monday afternoon, has been undergoing treatment and is responding to it, media reports said.

According to reports, the 84-year-old filmmaker was admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Chennai after  he developed age-related ailments.

Actress Khushboo said the filmmaker is 'fine'.

She tweeted: "#K.BALACHANDER SIR is fine..its age related ailment..i am here with him at the hospital..#superstar just left..pls do.not believe the rumors."

Actor Rajnikanth has visited the director in the hospital.

K. Balachander is popularly known in the Tamil film industry as ‘Iyakunar Sigaram'.

He is credited with having introduced and nurtured numerous actors like Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth.

He is known for making films like 'Apoorva Raagangal' and 'Avargal'.
