Vidya Balan starrer 'Shakuntala Devi' is out for audience now

Mumbai/IBNS: Indian actress Vidya Balan starrer Hindi film 'Shakuntala Devi', which is based on the life of the globally renowned Indian mathematics genius Shakuntala Devi, premiered on Over-the-top (OTT) platform Amazon Prime Video on Friday.

Vidya essayed the role of Shakuntala Devi, who was popularly known as the ‘human computer’, in the film which has been directed by Anu Menon and produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions and Vikram Malhotra (Abundantia Entertainment).

'Shakuntala Devi' also stars Sanya Malhotra of 'Dangal' and 'Badhaai Ho' fame, who is seen playing the role of Shakuntala Devi’s daughter with whom the genius enjoyed a complicated but extraordinary relationship, alongside Jisshu U Sengupta and Amit Sadh in pivotal roles. 

Following the release of the film, Vidya tweeted, " She is here!! Meet #ShakuntalaDeviOnPrime now!!!"

Sanya said, "Watch her spread the magic of maths!"

Amit said on Twitter, "This genius is now on your screens too!"

The screenplay is written by Anu Menon and Nayanika Mahtani, while the dialogues are penned by Ishita Moitra.

The film premiered on the OTT platform as all cinema halls are shut owing to Covid-19 pandemic.
