You will always be my captain, big brother: Virat Kohli writes in his heart-touching birthday message for MS Dhoni

London, July 8 (IBNS): Indian skipper Virat Kohli on Sunday penned down a heart-warming message where he praised MS Dhoni on his birthday and said he will always remain 'my captain'.

MS Dhoni and Kohli are currently playing the World Cup in the UK.

India will face New Zealand in the first semi-finals clash on Tuesday.

Kohli described Dhoni as his 'big brother'.

Praising Dhoni, during whose captaincy Kohli joined the Indian team and even later stepped into his shoes after he left the Test captaincy in 2014, tweeted: "Happy birthday mahi bhai @msdhoni. Very few people understand the meaning of trust and respect and I'm glad to have had the friendship I have with you for so many years. You've been a big brother to all of us and as I said before, you will always be my captain ."

Dhoni turned 38 on Sunday.

Under Dhoni's leadership, India won the World T20, 2011 World Cup and Champions Trophy.

Kohli had replaced him as the skipper in all formats of the game after the Ranchi-born cricketer stepped down as the captain after serving in the post for nearly 10 years.
