Twitter users slam ICC over Super Over rule which decided England as World Cup winner
London, July 15 (IBNS): Twitter users slammed International Cricket Council for their rule on Supr Over tie which ensured England beat New Zealand in the final of the World Cup to lift the trophy for the first time in the history of the game.
In a match that got ended in a draw at the end of both sides playing 50 overs each and also at the end of the super over, England emerged the winner because of "superior boundary count".
The rule which made New Zealand fail to win the trophy was echoed brilliantly in the tweet by cricketer Jimmy Neesham.
Jimmy, who played the final match of the tournament, tweeted: "That hurts. Hopefully there’s a day or two over the next decade where I don’t think about that last half hour. Congratulations @ECB_cricket , well deserved."

Both the regular 100 overs and later the Super Overs saw similar results as the scores were tied both the times.
Batting first, New Zealand scored 241 losing 8 wickets in the final of the Cricket World at Lord on Sunday evening.
Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first.
Nicholls was the highest scorer of the side with 55. Woakes and Plunket picked up three wickets each.
At the end of 50 overs, England ended up with the exact same score.
In the super over, both the teams scored 15 each. But England won because they had scored more boundaries.
However, Twitter users, which included former cricketers, criticised the ICC over their Super Over rule.
Ex-English captain Michael Vaughan tweeted: "Neither Team deserved to lose that .. What a day for Cricket .. that is how it inspire a new generation of cricketers .. #CWC19."
