London, July 15 (ibns): Former England captain Michael Vaughan on Monday prasied English cricket side for winning the World Cup and said the 'Lady Luck' went in favour of Eoin Morgan's team.

Michael Vaughan said both New Zealand and England showed great skills and character during the clash.

" Sometimes you watch finals and 1 team freezes under the pressure .. Yesterday neither team did that .. Both teams showed great skill & character .. but you need Lady Luck in big games and that went the Way of England .. Loved it .. #OnOn #CWC19 #WorldCupWinners," Vaughan tweeted.

England won the World Cup after a Super Over tie even could not find the winner.

England emerged the winner because of "superior boundary count".

Batting first, New Zealand scored 241 losing 8 wickets in the final of the Cricket World at Lord on Sunday evening.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first.

Nicholls was the highest scorer of the side with 55. Woakes and Plunket picked up three wickets each.

At the end of 50 overs, England ended up with the exact same score.

In the super over, both the teams scored 15 each. But England won because they had scored more boundaries.
