Independence Day: Virat Kohli urges all to work together towards India's progress

New Delhi, Aug 15 (IBNS): Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has urged all Indians to work together towards the country's progress on the occasion of India's 73rd Independence Day on Thursday.

Kohli tweeted, "Wishing every Indian a Happy Independence Day. Let's work together towards progress of our country and create the India of our dreams. Jai Hind."

Apart from Kohli, Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma tweeted, " Happy Independence Day to my fellow Indians. Our nation has been through a lot this year,Mother Nature has been rough on us but the way we stood up & protected our wildlife is inspiring. Let’s continue to love & protect our animals & marine life. The circle of life is fragile."

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar tweeted, "Happy Independence Day to all Indians! Proud of what we’ve achieved in the last 72 years. Let us all Invest in Early Childhood Development .. this can keep our nation healthy, wealthy & happy for generations to come."

Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman tweeted, "On this Independence Day lets salute the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and soldiers who made us realise the dream of an independent and unified India. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!"

India gained their independence from the British rule on this day in 1947.
