PV Sindhu wins World Championship gold, Modi leads India in wishing her

New Delhi, Aug 25 (IBNS): Indian PM Narendra Modi on Sunday led the nation in celebrating and wishing the World Championship victory of badminton icon PV Sindhu.

Modi said Sindhu's victory will inspire generations of sports players.

" The stupendously talented @Pvsindhu1 makes India proud again! Congratulations to her for winning the Gold at the BWF World Championships. The passion and dedication with which she’s pursued badminton is inspiring. PV Sindhu’s success will inspire generations of players," Modi tweeted.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee greeted her and said: "Congratulations to @Pvsindhu1 on becoming the first Indian to win the #BWFWorldChampionships. You make every Indian proud. Keep winning."

Indian cricketer Anjum Chopra said: "Worth the wait for gold. Well done Sindhu. Congratulations on your feat. #BWFWorldChampionships WorldBadmintonChampionships @Pvsindhu1."

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar said: " Amazing performance, @Pvsindhu1 ! Congratulations on becoming the 1st ever
to win the BWF World Championships! You have made India proud, yet again. #BWFWorldChampionships2019."

Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman tweeted: " Congrats @Pvsindhu1 on winning the Gold medal at #BWFWorldChampionships2019 Great exhibition of skill, fitness and mental strength to defeat Japan’s Okuhara in such an emphatic fashion. Proud of you."

Actor Anupam Kher tweeted: "Congratulations dearest @Pvsindhu1 for becoming the world champion. Your victory makes Indians all over the world so so proud. Thank you for giving us reasons to rejoice. Your journey is greatly inspirational. Jai Ho and Jai Hind. "

PV Sindhu, India's badminton icon, added one more feather to her cap as she won the final of the World Championship by beating her strong competitor Nozomi Okuhara of Japan on Sunday.

She won the gold medal by beating her opponent 21-7, 21-7.

She became the first Indian player to win the BWF World Championships gold medal.

Sindhu won the title just months before India will participate in the Olympics and the nation will be dreaming big from her.

Sindhu completely dominated Sunday's match and gave no chance to her opponent to gain grounds in the match.
