The Ashes: Despite strong defence, Australia defeat England by 185 runs in Manchester

Manchester: Despite a strong lower-order defence, Australia defeated England in the fourth Test of The Ashes by 185 runs here on Sunday.

Chasing a huge target of 383, England were bowled out for 197 in the second innings.

Joe Denly was the only English batsman to cross 50. He was dismissed at 53.

Jos Buttler and Jason Roy scored 34 and 31 respectively.

Pat Cummins picked four wickets for 43 in 24 overs.

The match was starred mainly by Australia's Steve Smith who slammed 211 and 82 in the two innings respectively.

With one match left in The Ashes, Australia are leading the series 2-1.
