Mumbai: After allrounder Hardik Pandya was criticised online for his "disrespectful" tweet on former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan's birthday, the latter responded calmly.

On the occasion of Zaheer's 41st birthday on Monday, Pandya tweeted a video where he was seen smashing the former fast bowler out of the stadium.

Pandya had tweeted, "Happy birthday Zak ... Hope you smash it out of the park like I did here @ImZaheer"

After the young allrounder was trolled online by the netizens who had called the wish "disrespectful", Zaheer stepped in to respond to the tweet.

Replying to Pandya's tweet, Zaheer said, "Hahahaha....thank you for the wishes @hardikpandya7 my batting skills can never be as good as yours but the birthday was as good as the next delivery you faced from me in this match."

Presently, Pandya is out of international cricket as he underwent a lower back surgery recently.

The cricketer has also shared a video on Twitter detailing his recovery.

"Baby steps .. but my road to full fitness begins here and now Thank you to everyone for their support and wishes, it means a lot" Pandya tweeted.
