'The Wall' Rahul Dravid turns 47, former teammates shower wishes

Bengaluru/IBNS: Wishes poured in on social media as former Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid, who is popularly known as "The Wall", turned 47 on Saturday.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar tweeted, "Happy Birthday Jammy! The way you batted always created huge jams for the bowlers. Have a great one my friend."

Virender Sehwag tweeted, "From my understanding, I thought grinding only happens in the kitchen in the Mixer Grinder, but Dravid taught one can grind on the cricket pitch as well. We had it All when we had the Wall !"

VVS Laxman, with whom Dravid had a game-changing partnership against Australia at Eden Gardens in 2001, said on Twitter, "Wishing my good friend Rahul Dravid a very special birthday and a wonderful year filled with love,happiness and prosperity."

"Happy birthday #RahulDravid what a legend" Harbhajan Singh tweeted.

Mohammad Kaif, who along with Dravid took India home safely against New Zealand in a 2003 World Cup match, tweeted, " Inspiration. Role Model. Legend. Wishing the great man , Rahul Dravid a very happy birthday."

"Wishing the the Great Wall of India a very happy birthday. Have a fabulous day Jammy" Yuvraj Singh said. 

Dravid, who began his international career against England in 1996, played international cricket till 2012.

In 2005, when Sourav Ganguly was removed from captaincy and axed from the national team, the right-handed batsman was given the charge of the team.

In 2007, the man who is known as "Mr. Dependable", resigned as the skipper and further concentrated on batting.

Dravid is referred to as "The Wall", "Mr. Dependable" for his patience and rock-solid performance on the cricket field.
