Women's T20 WC: India beat New Zealand by 4 runs, enter knockout stage
Melbourne/UNI: India defeated New Zealand by four runs in a thrilling contest to cement a semifinal berth in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020, here on Thursday.
With this win, India, sit at the top of their Group A with 6 points from 3 matches.
This is India's third victory in a row in the ongoing tournament.
Earlier, India had registered 17 and 18-run victories against defending champions Australia and Bangladesh respectively.
Put in to bat, India posted a below-par total of 133-8 in 20 overs.
Opener Shafali Verma top-scored with a 34-ball 46, while Taniya Bhatia also made a valuable contribution with a 25-ball 23 for India.
In reply, New Zealand were restricted to 129/6 in 20 overs.
Amelia Kerr was the top scorer for New Zealand with an unbeaten 19-ball 34.
Verma was given the Player of the Match award for her brilliance with the bat.
