'You taught how to play game of life': Kedar Jadhav's emotional post on MS Dhoni's birthday

Ranchi/IBNS: Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav wrote an emotional post on Instagram to celebrate the 39th birthday of former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Jadhav in a post on Instagram described how Dhoni, who is known for his calm attitude on field, has remained a mentor for his life.

Recalling past experiences, Jadhav wrote, "Once you gave me a life mantra, 'Kedar, Last ball tak umeed nahi harni chahiye. Koi bhi target impossible nahi hota. Khud pe bharosa rakho aur koshish karte raho, ground pe bhi aur zindagi main bhi'."

Jadhav remembered how Dhoni, who now plays as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the national team, had left for the 2015 Cricket World Cup instead of seeing the face of his newborn baby to continue with his "national duty" or play with daughter Ziva instead of participating in the photo-session post Indian Premier League (IPL) win.

"Cricket was just the outermost layer of your teaching, in reality, you were teaching us how to play the game of life," the right-handed batsman said in the note for Dhoni.

Like Jadhav, million of Indians are waiting for Dhoni to return to cricket field as the "Captain Cool" took a long sabbatical following the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Wishing his immediate predecessor, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli wrote on Instagram, "Happy b'day Mahi bhai. Wish you good health and happiness always. God bless you 🙏😃"

Dhoni's wife Sakshi wrote on Instagram, "Marking the date you were born, another year older, greyed a bit more, become smarter and sweeter. (Literally ) You are a man who will not be moved by all the sweet wishes and gifts. Let’s celebrate another year of your life by cutting a cake and blowing the candles! Happy Birthday, Husband!!"
