Islamabad: Former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mustaq has targeted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) by saying the cricket body did not treat recently retired ex-Indian skipper MS Dhoni properly.

Saqlain said Dhoni's retirement should not have happened without a proper farewell.

On Aug 15, the day which marked India's Independence Day, Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket, ending a glorious chapter in Indian cricket history.

"I always try to say positive things. I always try not to spread negativity in any way. However, I think I should say this. This is kind of a defeat of BCCI. They did not treat a big player like him in the right way," Saqlain, who is one of the most successful spinners to play for Pakistan, said in a video posted on Youtube.

The retirement should not have occured in this way, the spinner said.

Dhoni posted a video on Instagram to announce his retirement from international cricket.

In his career which lasted for 350 ODIs, Dhoni amassed 10,773 runs at an average of 50.57.

He did not feature in a single international game since he played the semi-finals of the World Cup 2019 against New Zealand.
