WT20: Australia register consolation victory
Mirpur, Apr 1 (IBNS): Bangladesh's poor show in the World T20 continued while Australia posted a consolation win as they beat the hosts by seven wickets here on Tuesday.
Aaron Finch (71) and David Warner (48) gave Australia a solid start at the beginning as they posted 98 on the scorecard.
Al-Amin Hossain bowled Warner in the 12th over to give Australia the first blow.
Warner by then had smashed five boundaries and three sixes.
Finch hammered 45-ball 71 runs. His innings was laced with seven boundaries and four sixes.
Al-Amin Hossain struck again in the 16th over to get rid of Finch.
Glenn Maxwell (5) departed soon in the next over as Taskin Ahmed, paying his first T20 International for the national side, grabbed his wicket.
Cameron White (18*) and George Bailey (11*) committed no further mistake and safely reached the target.
Earlier, Bangladesh scored 153 for five in 20 overs.
Shakib Al Hasan remained the top scorer for Bangladesh with his 52-ball 66. He hit five boundaries and three sixes in his knock.
Shakib along with skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (47) added 112 runs in the third wicket partnership.
Nathan Coulter-Nile picked up two wickets for Australia.
