Abu Dhabi/UNI: Mumbai Indians produced a clinical all-round performance and registered their 2nd win of the IPL 2020 after thrashing Kings XI Punjab by 48 runs, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, here on Thursday.

Mumbai Indian batting first posted 191/4 in 20 overs courtesy captain Rohit Sharma's fifty (70 off 45) and Kieron Pollard's quickfire knock (47 off 20). Apart from Rohit and Pollard, Hardik Pandya also played crucial knock of 30 off 11.

In reply, KXIP crumbled down in front of Mumbai Indians daunting target and could only score 143/8 in 20 overs, losing the match by 48 runs.

Chasing a huge target for victory, openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal gave KXIP a good start.

However, the introduction of Bumrah in the 5th over by captain Rohit Sharma gave MI the breakthrough as he dismissed inform Mayank for 25 off 18. Karun Nair, who came to bat next couldn't contribute much and got out for duck.

From there on, Nicholas Pooran and KL Rahul tried to revive the KXIP innings. Pooran gave the much-needed impetus to the innings but Rahul Chahar cleaned up KL Rahul to put MI on top. Rahul scored 17 off 19 before getting out.

Nicholas Pooran and Glenn Maxwell became cautious after the big wicket of KL Rahul. They joined to score 41 runs together before James Pattinson Came back into attack and dismissed Pooran for a handy 44 off 27 ball.

Once Pooran got out , wickets kept on falling as Maxwell (11), Jimmy Neesham (7), and Sarfaraz Khan (7) departed in the span of 15 balls. A win was a mere formality thereafter for Mumbai Indians.
