Virat guides India to victory against SL

Ranchi, Nov 16 (IBNS) Indian skipper Virat Kohli smashed an unbeaten 139 to guide his side to a three-wicket victory in the last ODI against Sri Lanka and clinch the series here on Sunday.

Chasing Sri Lanka's 286 for eight, Kohli reached India to 288 by smashing a huge six and reaching the tager of 288 runs with eight balls to spare.

Kohli and Ambati Rayudu (59) added 136 runs in the third wicket partnership to cruise nicely toward the target.

At one point of time, India lost few quick wickets but it was Kohli who kept one side guarded for the home side.

Kohli and Akshar Patel (17) added 57 runs in the eighth wicket partnership to reach the target easily at the end and clinch a 5-0 series victory over the visitors.

Ajantha Mendis took four wickets for Lanka and gave India some amount of jolt in the match.

Kohli on the other end kept scoring the runs and the scoreboard kept on ticking smoothly.

Riding on Sri Lankan skipper

Angelo Mathews' unbeaten 139, the visitors posted 286 for eight on the scorecard.

Angelo and Lahiru Thirimanne  (52) added 128 runs in the fifth wicket partnership to help the side reach 286 at the end of the innings.

Dhawal Kulkarni took three wickets for India.

India 287 for 7 in 48.4 overs (V Kohli 139 no, A Mendis 4-73)
