Calcutta Hard Court Tennis Championship 2020: Wyatt O'Brien and Arya Bhattacharya shock Md Fardeen and Akshat Agarwal
Kolkata: The qualifier duo of Wyatt O'Brien and Arya Bhattacharya shocks 2nd seeded Md Fardeen and Akshat Agarwal in the opening round of the Men's Open Doubles at the ongoing Calcutta Hard Court Tennis Championship 2020, being held at both Clay and Synthetic Courts of the Calcutta South Club Ltd.
Losing the opening set by 0-6, the junior pair of O'Brien and Bhattacharya makes a stunning come back in the second.
Fardeen and Agarwal claims the first 2 games of the second set and gets complacent which eventually allows the qualifiers to return to the match as they bagged the set by a close 6-4.
In a deciding match tie-breaker, it was O'Brien and Bhattacharya who got lucky as they won it by 10-5.
In the Girls Singles Under 16 semi finals, 4th seeded Rituja Saha upsets top seeded Tannishtha Mukherjee by a straight 6-4,6-2. Saha therefore sets up a summit clash with Anisha Pandey, seeded 2 in the draw, who in turn played long to overcome 3rd seeded Kinza Shaikh by 3-6,6-3,7-6(6).
Matches will start at 9:30 am tomorrow.
