Bengaluru/IBNS: Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel took a dig at his now ex-Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after getting released by the south Indian team.

Patel has been released weeks after he had announced his retirement from international cricket.

"An absolute honour to be released after being retired . ... thank you RCB," he tweeted.

Earlier RCB had put out a tweet, "Right from his debut for India, to his final IPL season in 2020, Parthiv Patel showed us how important it is to have a strong character and work hard. It was a pleasure having you at RCB. Best wishes for the life ahead and thank you for all the memories."

Patel, who was a wicketkeeper-batsman, announced his retirement from international cricket on Dec 9, 2020.

Interestingly, the southpaw was critical of Virat Kohli's captaincy in RCB, who are yet to win a trophy in the IPL.
