Ahmedabad/IBNS: Indian cricket head coach Ravi Shastri Tuesday received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine as the second phase of vaccination drive began a day ago.

Shastri tweeted a picture where he can be seen wearing the Indian team's practice jersey.

"Got the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Thank you to the amazing medical professionals & scientists for empowering India against the pandemic. Extremely impressed with the professionalism shown by Kantaben & her team at Apollo, Ahmedabad in dealing with COVID-19 vaccination," he tweeted.

The second vaccination drive, which aims to inoculate people over 60 years of age and above 45 with co-morbidities, kicked off Mar 1.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 70, was the first person to get inoculated in the latest phase of drive.
