IPTL: Indian Aces beat Singapore Slammers in inaugural match

Manila, Nov 28 (IBNS): Indian Aces defeated Singapore Slammers 26-16 in the first match of the inaugural International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) here on Friday.

In the first set, Indian tennis stars Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza defeated Bruno Soares and Daniela Hantuchova 6-4 in the mixed doubles clash.

Taking the next set to a shootout, Fabrice Santoro defeated Australian legend Patrick Rafter of  Singapore Slammers 6-5.

Singapore's Tomas Berdych, Nick Kyrgios defeated Rohan and his partner Gael Monfils  2-6 in the next set.

India's Ana Ivanovic beat Daniela Hantuchova 6-0 in the next set to give the side a significant lead.

In the last men's singles match, Monfils thrashed Lleyton Hewitt  6-1 to clinch a victory.
