God willing, Shahin will be my son-in-law: Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi

Islamabad: Former Pakistan cricket captain and outspoken all rounder Shahid Afridi has confirmed pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will become his son-law, but denied his daughter and the young bowler had been in a relationship before their engagement.

Asked about his daughter’s engagement with the Pakistani fast bowler who shares his surname, Shahid told a private channel that if God's willing, Shaheen will be his son-in-law in the future, The News reported.

The retired all-rounder - also referred to in Pakistani as Boom Boom because of his bowling -  claimed that Shaheen had no relationship with his daughter before both the families decided on their engagement.

"We Afridis have eight tribes, Shaheen and we belong to different tribes," the former captain noted.

He said that over the past two years, Shaheen's parents had been expressing a a the strong desire that both families should convert their acquaintances into a formal relationship.

Shaheen's father Ayaz Khan had earlier confirmed to the media that both families have longstanding relations and that Shahid's family has agreed to the proposal.
