Two daughters from Jharkhand to represent Women's Hockey Team in Tokyo Olympics
Ranchi/UNI: Two daughters from the state have been selected in the national women's hockey team which is going to Tokyo Olympics.
In the 16 member team which is announced by Hockey India, two players from Jharkhand Nikki Pradhan from Khunti and Salima Tete from Simdega have been included.
This is for the first occasion that two hockey players from Jharkhand will be participating in the Olympics.
In the 16 member team, Nikki has been included as a defender while Salima will be playing as a midfielder. Never before two players either in men or women's team have been elected from Jharkhand in the hockey team.
Nikki particularly has added a unique feather to her cap as she has become the only second player from Jharkhand to play in two Olympics, before that the record was with Dipika Kumari who this time will play in her third Olympics.
The selection of both hockey players has brought smiles to the faces of hockey players who are hoping that after 1980 the drought of medals in hockey in the Olympics will end this time.
India had represented in women's hockey for the first time in Rio Olympics in 2016 and this will be their second occasion in these games.
