Chris Gayle receives personal message from Narendra Modi on Republic Day

New Delhi: West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle on Wednesday said he received a 'personal message' from Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he wished him on India's Republic Day.

He also greeted India on the special day.

"I would like to congratulate India on their 73rd Republic Day. I woke up to a personal message from Prime Minister Modi @narendramodi reaffirming my close personal ties with him and to the people of India. Congratulations from the Universe Boss and nuff love," he tweeted.

Gayle has played a crucial role in the Indian Premier League since it started.

He played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the showpiece event.
