Faisal Ali Dar becomes first Padma Shri awardee of JK
Srinagar/IBNS: The Indian Pencak Silat Federation (IPSF) and Pencak Silat Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) Tuesday honoured Faisal Ali Dar for receiving Padma Shri under the sports category.
Dar became the first Padma Shri awardee from Kashmir.
He was felicitated for his contribution in promotion and training children in Pencak silat and other sports, an official of PSAJK told Rising Kashmir that
"He has played an important role in coaching and promotion of Pencak Silat martial art at various places across valley," he said.
Earlier, this year right ahead of Republic Day, Dar was awarded Padma Shri for his distinguished service in the field of Sports and Art as an international martial artist.
The President approved the conferment of 128 Padma awards that comprised of four Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 107 Padma Shri awards.
Among 128 recipients of the Padma awards, J&K bagged two Padma Shri awards and one Padma Bhushan award.
