Kolkata/IBNS: The big-time bridge tournament is back again in Kolkata as the 4th All India Shree Cement Bridge Tournaments will be held at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, New Town, Rajarhat from May 12 to 15.
This prestigious Championship is being organized by the Corporate Bridge Association of India under the aegis of Bridge Federation of India and would be held for the team as well as pairs events.
This Championship assumes great significance as it would be the First Category -1 National Bridge Event after the Covid 19 pandemic where the players would be present in person.
Bridge Federation of India has decided that the leading pairs of the Team as well as Pairs will get maximum ranking points to get priority in Indian Team Selection Trials.
About 300 players representing more than 50 teams will participate in this event which will consist of almost all reputed International and National Masters of our country including the medal winners of the last Asian Games.
The Notable International Players in action include Hema Deora, Jaggy Shivdasani, Ashoke Goel, Sumit Mukherjee, Sukamal Das. Subrata Saha, Debabrata Majumder, Shibnath Dey Sarkar, Pronob Burdhan, Rajeshwar Tiwari, Keyzad Anklesaria.
Five members of the Indian Seniors team which won the Silver Medal in the World Championships will be seen here too.
Veteran Internationals Kamal Mukherjee will also participate along with many Junior Internationals like Sayantan Kushari, Sagnik Roy and Babhrubahan Bose.
The championship offers a total prize money of rupees five lacs to the winners and rank holders in different categories and will be inaugurated by Chairman of HIDCO Debasish Sen and Shree Cement Managing Director H M Bangur.
