Little faster than Southee, eh: Virat Kohli sledges Jonny Bairstow in Edgbaston

Birmingham/IBNS: India's star batsman Virat Kohli preferred to play the mental game during England's first innings as he locked horns with in-form English batter Jonny Bairstow here Sunday.

When Bairstow came out to power, Kohli went for sledging taking the name of Kiwi bowler Tim Southee.

Kohli was heard on the stump microphone saying, "A little bit faster than Southee, eh?"

However the sledging had very limited impact on Bairstow, who went on to slam his century to help England reach 284 in the first innings.

Bairstow slammed 106 off 140 balls with 14 fours and two sixes in the innings.

India's fast bowler Mohammed Siraj picked four wickets for 66 runs while skipper Jasprit Bumrah scalped three.
