New Delhi: Indian PM Narendra Modi appreciated Indian weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga after he clinched the gold medal at the Birmingham CWG.

This is the second gold medal won by India in the current edition of the tournament.

"Our Yuva Shakti is creating history! Congratulations to @raltejeremy, who has won a Gold in his very first CWG and has set a phenomenal CWG record as well. At a young age he’s brought immense pride and glory. Best wishes to him for his future endeavours," Modi tweeted.

Indian weightlifters continued their golden run in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games as Jeremy Lalrinnunga clinched the yellow medal in the men's 67kg category on Sunday.

Mirabai Chanu won the first medal of the CWG on Saturday.

Samoa's veteran lifter Vaipava Ioane won the silver while Nigeria's Edidiong Umoafia lifted the bronze medal.

The 19-year-old lifted 140kg in his second snatch after lifting 136kg in his first. In the clean and jerk category, he lifted 160kg, finishing off with a tally of 300kg, creating a new CWG record. This was India's fifth medal of the Games.
