FIFA World Cup: Lionel Messi scores again, Argentina 3-2 up against France
Doha: Lionel Messi, who is appearing in the final international match of for Argentina, scored his second goal of the night to put his team 3-2, the first one in the extra time, up in the final game World Cup against champions France here on Sunday.
Argentina and France were tied 2-2 in the normal regulation time.
In the first half of the extra time, both the teams remained goalless.
Argentina scored the first goal in the extra time when Messi showed his skills in putting the ball perfectly in the net in the 108th minute of the game.
Earlier, French football star Kylian Mbappe scored twice as France equalised 2-2 with Argentina in the neck-to-neck final of the Qatar World Cup.
First converting a penalty in the 80 minute, Mbappe then scored the equaliser in the 81st minute to help his squad bounce back in the game which was dominated by Argentina till that point.
Messi, earlier in the first half of the game, converted a penalty and then Di Maria added another to take Argentina 2-0 up in the game.
While Argentina looked dominating in the first half, the French brigade bounced back at the end of the second half to make things interesting.
France are the current world champions.
Argentina is looking to win the title for another time after last winning it in 1986.
