World Cup final: Kylian Mbappe scores hat-trick as France-Argentina tied 3-3 at extra-time, match moves to penalty shootout

Doha:  Kylian Mbappe remained on fire as he scored a hat-trick to help France go 3-3 tied against Argentina in the extra time of the scintillating World Cup final match against Argentina here on Sunday.

Mbappe converted a penalty in the 118th minute of the game to bring cheers on the face of his countrymen.

Messi had put Argentina on top in the 108th minute of the game as he drew the first blood in the extra time of the game.

The match had ended 2-2 in the normal regulation time.

Lionel Messi and Di Maria had scored twice to give Argentina 2-0 lead in the first half of the game.

While Argentina fans were expecting a cakewalk, Mbappe lighted up the stadium by scoring two back-to-back goals.

After converting a penalty corner, Mbappe scored another goal in the 81st minute to leave the game tied at 2-2.

France are the current world champions.

Argentina is looking to win the title for another time after last winning it in 1986.

This is Lionel Messi's final international match for Argentina.
