First ODI: India win toss, elect to bat first against New Zealand
Hyderabad/IBNS: Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first in the inaugural One Day International (ODI) against New Zealand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the toss, Rohit said allrounder Hardik Pandya and fast bowler Shardul Thakur are back in the side.
India's new batting sensation Suryakumar Yadav and wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan are also playing in the team.
Ahead of the ODI series, India suffered a blow in the form of Shreyas Iyer, who has been ruled out of all three matches due to back injury.
The match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm.
