Morocco to join Spain and Portugal's bid for FIFA World Cup 2030
Rabat/UNI: King Mohammed VI of Morocco announced on Tuesday his country's decision to present a joint bid together with Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
In a message to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the king said this joint bid would bring together Africa and Europe, the northern and southern Mediterranean, and the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds.
"It will also bring out the best in all of us - in effect, a combination of genius, creativity, experience and means," the message added.
The message was addressed on the occasion of the presentation of the 2022 CAF Outstanding Achievement Award to the king on Tuesday in Kigali, Rwanda.
This is Morocco's sixth bid to host the FIFA World Cup after unsuccessful attempts in the 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010 and 2026 editions.
In June 2021, Spain and Portugal confirmed they would make a joint bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2030.
