New Delhi, Jan 26 (IBNS) The crucial match of the ongoing tri-series between India and Australia was abandoned due to rain, giving the Asian side a chance to reach the final.

Both the sides shared the point as rain spoiled the match after just 16 overs in the match.

Rain had already curtailed the match to 44 overs.

Batting first, India had lost the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan (8) and Ambati Rayudu (23) as the scorecard stood at 69 for two.

Ajinkya Rahane (28*) and Virat Kohli (3*) were at the crease when rain stopped the play.

After waiting for three hours, the umpires later decided to call off the match.

Mitchell Starc and Mitchell Marsh have taken a wicket each in the match.
