Asia Cup 2023: India's squad announced; Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul back

Mumbai/IBNS: The Indian team for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, which is set to be a big warm-up ahead of the World Cup to be played in October, was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)'s selection panel on Monday.

Recovering from injuries, India's premier bowler Jasprit Bumrah and batter KL Rahul returned to the ODI side, which will be led by Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as his deputy.

After his impressive performance in T20s against West Indies, young batter Tilak Varma has been included in the team.

Sanju Samson will be travelling as the stand-by player for India.

Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul will be the wicketkeeper-batter option for the men-in-blue.

India will take on Pakistan in their first match of Asia Cup 2023 on September 2.

Team India squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya (VC), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna.
