Asian Games: India continues strong show, touches historic 100-medal mark

India achieved the 100-medal mark on Saturday as athletes continued to show their dominance in various sporting fields in the ongoing Asian Games.

SAI Media tweeted: "AND THAT IS MEDAL #100 FOR."

"HISTORY IS MADE AS INDIA GETS ITS 100 MEDAL AT THE ASIAN GAMES 2022! This is a testament to the power of dreams, dedication, and teamwork of our athletes involved in the achievement of #TEAMINDIA! Let this achievement inspire generations to come - showing that with hard work and passion, anything is possible!" the tweet said.

The 100th medal was won when Indian women's  Kabaddi team defeated Chinese Taiepei to secure the gold medal.

India won 25 Gold, 35 Silver and 40 Bronze medals so far in this edition of the showpiece event, surpassing all previous records.

The medal table is dominated by China.

India's neighbouring nation won 354 medals in total which include 187 gold. 

So far, India's best performance in the Asian Games was achieved in 2018  in Jakarta when the country clinched 70 medals in total.
