Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh faced a backlash over his comment, which is considered as "misogynist", on Bollywood actresses Anushka Sharma and Athiya Shetty during the India-Australia World Cup final match on Sunday.

In the course of the match, the camera was panned towards Anushka and Athiya, the spouses of cricketers Virat Kohli and KL Rahul respectively, who were seen having a discussion.

Harbhajan, who was doing the Hindi commentary, said, "I am thinking whether they are discussing cricket or films because I don't know how much they understand cricket."

As soon as the clip went viral on social media, several users slammed the spin bowling legend and called him out for alleged misogyny.

Anushka and Athiya were present in the stands during the World Cup final match which was held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Despite a dream run in the whole tournament, India buckled down in front of Australia in the final, which the yellow brigade won by six wickets.
