Shrachi Sports Ventures (SSV), in association with its subsidiary Athlead, hosted a three-day entry-level cricket coaching workshop for aspiring coaches from June 30 to July 2 at a school near Kolkata with the aim of standardising coaching methodology as per international standards by delving into multi-level cricket coaching techniques.

The workshop was conducted by former Indian cricketer and 1983 World Cup hero Sandeep Patil and senior coaches Goutam Shome and Nandan Phadnis.

Sessions were also conducted by sports therapist Ashish Kaushik, fitness expert Bidya Roy, and sports physician Dr. Kinjal Suratwala.

Speaking at the event, Patil said he is thrilled to be a part of the project.

“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Rahul Todi and Athlead Sports for curating and organizing this workshop,” he said.

He said the project will include coaches from the North-eastern part of the country. Patil said he will be based in Kolkata while conducting the workshop in the city.

“I have always stayed in the place and worked with the team. When I worked with Oman, Madhya Pradesh or with Kenya, I stayed there,” he said.

"So, when they (Shrachi Sports Ventures) approached me, I took time and then said 'Yes'," he said.

He said the facility will further facilitate other sports, including tennis and football.

Speaking to IBNS at the sidelines of the event, Ashish Kaushik said: “Mr. Sandeep Patil approached me and informed me about the project. I found it to be a very unique programme. The programme is very comprehensive as sports health and fitness of the athletes will also be covered in it,” he said.

“The idea is to set up a high-performance centre in the school itself which will cater to all sports,” he said.

Rahul Todi, Managing Director of Shrachi Group said: “Building on the success of our inaugural coaching workshop at East Bengal Football Club with Sandip Patil, we are thrilled to announce another 3-day coaching workshop. This time, we have seen a significant increase in registrations, reflecting the growing interest and enthusiasm for our programs.”

He said: “We aim to equip coaches with the knowledge and tools necessary to guide the next generation and adapt to the ever-evolving landscape of cricket.”

Apurba Kumar Saha, Chairman, Pailan Group, said, “Pailan World School (now Athlead International School) has encouraged a holistic integration of sports and education since its inception. We had earlier hosted the Indian U-17 Cricket Team in our school as part of our commitment towards sports. Similarly, we had an involvement with the Indian Archery Team.”
