Wimbledon (UK): In a nerve-wracking, end-to-end Wimbledon Women's Singles final, Barbara Krejcikova of Czech Republic claimed her first Wimbledon title and second Grand Slam overall, defeating ItaItaly's lian Jasmine Paolini on Centre Court.

Krejcikova won 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

After Krejcikova dominated the first set, Paolini made a remarkable comeback in the second set.

Krejcikova, who also won the French Open in 2021, had earlier stunned 11th seed Danielle Collins in the fourth round and former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in the quarter-finals, before securing a three-set victory over 2022 champion Elena Rybakina in the semi-finals.

Paolini, meanwhile, endured the heartbreak of losing consecutive Grand Slam finals.
