Spain beat England 2-1 to clinch Euro 2024 title for fourth time

In a drama-filled second half of the contest, Spain beat England by a 2-1 margin to clinch their fourth Euro title in Berlin on Sunday.

England's hope of finally ending their 58-year wait to lift the title ended with a disappointing defeat with Spain dominating the show in the second half.

Nico Williams provided Spain with the initial lead in the second half when he properly executed the pass from team's emerging star Lamine Yamal.

With the scoreboard showing 1-0, England pumped into action and a brilliantly placed left-footed effort from Cole Palmer from outside the box ensured the British men were back on track as they levelled the scorecard 1-1.

With both the sides combating hard and giving no scope, it seemed the match was heading towards Extra Time and it was at that moment when Spain drew the final blood when Mikel Oyarzabal tapped home an inch-perfect pass from Marc Cucurella which helped the four-time champions take the winning lead of 2-1.

Italy had previously won the title in 1964, 2008 and 2012.

This was England's second straight heartbreak since the team lost the Euro 2020 final against Italy.

Italy defeated England on penalties in the last edition of the showpiece tournament and the squad's fate remained the same in 2024.
