India puts up best-ever performance in Paralympics with 29 medals, Narendra Modi calls it 'historic'
India roared in the Paralympics this year by clinching 29 medals in total, a record medal haul for the nation raising expectations of far better performance in the next edition which will be held four years later.
The medals tally includes seven golds, nine silvers and 13 bronze.
India finished this edition's campaign in the 18th position.
India bettered in the medals tally list than countries like Switzerland, Belgium, South Korea, Turkey and Argentina, positioning itself below 20-mark.
Navdeep Singh won India's 29 medal by clinching the gold in the men's javelin throw F41 classification.
Singh ended the campaign with a silver medal.
However, a miracle occurred and his silver was promoted to gold after Iran's Sadegh Beit Sayah was disqualified for repeatedly showing an objectionable flag.
Sun Pengxiang of China finished the campaign with silver.
