India 170/4 at the end of 35 overs

Sydney, Mar 26(IBNS) Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Azinkya Rahane walked on the razor's edge as India scored 170 for four wickets at the end of the 35th over in their ICC World Cup semi-final match against Australia here on Thursday.

Dhoni (29) and Rahane (43) were playing cautious to avert a total disaster, though the asking run rate for a win mounted to 10.77.

Earlier, openers Shikhar Dhawan (45), Virat Kohli (1) and Rohit Sharma (34) returned to the pavilion in the face of the Australian pace attack, leaving India in a dire strait.

Australian pacer Mitchelle Johonson claimed two wickets giving  away 20 runs while Josh Hazelwood bagged the other wickets.

Australia posted 328 runs fore the loss seven wickets in 50 overs.
