Pune FC partner Neptune Activity Centre for first-ever Summer Camp in Kolhapur
The 17-day multi-sport camp, with special emphasis on football, will be held at the Shantiniketan School campus, which incidentally is one of the most prominent CBSE schools in Kolhapur.
The Morewadi-based school is a part of the D. Y. Patil Group of Institutes and boasts more than 2000 students apart from over 200 staff members.
Speaking about the association, Rajashree Kakade, Director Shantiniketan School at D. Y. Patil Group said, "It gives us immense pleasure to be associated with a popular Football brand in Pune FC. We are looking forward to a great football coaching camp for the students in the city of Kolhapur."
Meanwhile, Chirag Tanna, Pune FC Head Operations, added, “We are very happy to be associated with this summer camp. It is not just our association with the camp but our association with Kolhapur that has provided us with a lot of talented players in the past. The camp provides budding youngsters a platform where they can learn in a professional way as well as showcase their skills for the coaches to take notice. This is just the beginning and we are looking forward to a long term association.”
For Pune FC, Kolhapur has always been close to their heart. From winning their first ever tournament as a professional team (Kedari Redekar United Cup All India Football Tournament in Gadhinglaj, 2008), to training talented players in the Peninsula Pune FC Academy, Pune FC has always shared a special connection with Kolhapur. And to further this association, Pune FC have partnered with NAC for their first ever camp in the south-Maharashtra region.
Recently, PPFCA Graduate and Pune FC senior team player, Nikhil Kadam was called up to the India-U23 team which played the AFC U23 Championships Qualifiers in Dhaka. In doing so, Nikhil became the first ever Kolhapur-born player to represent India at any level.
Furthermore, former and current PPFCA cadets Rushabh Dhere and Aniket Jadhav have also represented an Indian team at the Bayern Munich Youth Cup in Germany through the PPFCA.
Pune FC have also designated AFC ‘C’ Licensed Coach Amit Pawar from Kolhapur for the summer camp and will also provide essential equipment to train the kids in a truly professional way.
