Australian cricket legend Arthur Morris passes away

Sydney Aug 22 (IBNS) Former Australian cricketer Arthur Morris passed away on Saturday.

He was 93 when death came.

He was a member of lat Australian great Don Bradman's 1948 'Invincibles' side.

"Cricket Australia extends its deepest sympathies to the Morris family following the sad passing of Test legend Arthur, aged 93. Vale," Cricket Australia tweeted.

Playing 46 Tests in his career, Arthur Morris had scored  3533 runs.

"We have sadly lost a cherished link with our past," Cricket Australia chairman Wally Edwards was quoted as saying in the board's website.

"Arthur Morris was a great man and one of the true greats of Australian cricket who until now had been a treasured connection to an extraordinary era of the game," Edwards said.

Australia coach Darren Lehmann tweeted: "One of the true legends and gentlemen of the game. Arthur Morris RIP champion,our thoughts are with his wife Judith and family at this time."
