Beijing, Aug 23 (IBNS) Usain Bolt edged past his closest rival and a clear favorite Justin Gatlin to win the 100 meters Gold at the Athletics World Championships here on Sunday.

Bolt, who clocked 9.79 seconds, beat Gatlin by one hundredth of a second to retain the title.

Gatlin, tainted twice by doping cases, started as a strong contender as he rode on the back of 28 unbeaten wins but Bolt who won his first Olympic Gold at the Bird’s Nest Stadium repeated the feat in the same venue.

Experts have claimed it as the best race of his career as Twitter went ablaze with trending topic Usain Bolt.

Canadian Andre De Grasse and the 19-year-old American Trayvon Bromell shared the bronze medal in 9.92.

The Jamaican now has 9 world titles spanning over 100 meters, 200 meters and 4×100 meters relay.
