Kolkata, May 14 (IBNS): In a rain-hit IPL match, Kolkata Knight Riders were guided to eight wickets victory against MS Dhoni's Rising Pune Supergiants by a powerful knock by Yusuf Pathan (37*) here on Sunday.

Rain interrupted the proceedings when Pune scored 103 runs for the loss of six wickets in 17.4 overs with MS Dhoni (8*) and R Ashwin (0*) at the crease.

After hours and loss of time, KKR was set a revised target of 66 runs in 9 overs.

Yusuf Pathan hammered four boundaries and three sixes in his 18-ball 37 while Manish Pandey  smashed unbeaten 15 runs which helped KKR win reach the target of 66 runs by losing two wickets, under D/L method, quite easily at the end.

KKR, however, got off to a poor start as they lost two quick wickets of Robin

Uthappa (4) and Gautam Gambhir (0) with the scorecard reading 2-8 in the first three balls of the innings itself.

Pathan and Pandey played some strong shots out of the park and prevented any further damage as they stitched 58 runs third partnership  to help their side maintain the dominance in the current edition of the 20-over tournament.

Earlier, KR bowlers dominated the proceedings and made situations tough for Pune as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Australian George Bailey remained the top scorer for the side with his 27- ball 33. He hit three boundaries and a six in his knock.

Piyush Chawla picked up two wickets for KKR.
