SC raps BCCI, asks cricket board to fall in line
The Lodha panel in its report mentioned non-compliance on BCCI's part and have sought the replacement of all its top leaders including President Anurag Thakur and Secretary Ajay Shirke.
The status report also stated BCCI's negligence towards replying to e-mails and following the apex court's orders.
Reprimanding the BCCI, the SC bench headed by Justice TS Thakur said, "If the BCCI thinks that they are law unto themselves, then they are wrong. They have to comply with the directions of the court."
"You (BCCI) are behaving like Lords. Fall in line otherwise we will make you fall in line," it added.
"BCCI is bringing the system to disrepute by not following the directions," the bench also comprising of Justice D Y Chandrachud and A M Khanwilkar said.
In response to this, Arvind Datar, who represented the sporting body told the court that they have followed most of the orders and will comply with all gradually.
Unhappy with the response, the bench said, "Law needs not to be defied. We are not happy about the things going on. We anticipated this approach from BCCI but this is not done. You will have to fall in line with the directions of the court."
