Fourth Match: New Zealand beat India, level series

Ranchi, Oct 26 (IBNS): New Zealand bounced back in the five- match series strongly by beating the home side by 19 runs in the fourth match here on Wednesday.

After restricting New Zealand at 260 for the loss of seven wickets, Indians failed to chase down the total and were bowled out for 241 runs in 48.4 overs.

Ajinkya Rahane (57), Virat Kohli (45) and Axar Patel (38) failed to convert the start they got in the match.

As Indian batsmen kept departing one after the other, the Kiwi bowlers put more pressure on them to clinch the match and keep their hopes alive to win the series.

Hitting two boundaries and six,Dhawal Kulkarni tried his best to reduce the margin at the end but with no support at the other end, the match ended in New Zealand's favour.

Tim Southee picked up three wickets for the visitors.

Earlier, Amit Mishra strike late as he picked up two wickets at crucial junctures in the innings as New Zealand posted 260 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

Mishra bowled an economical spell as he picked up two wickets by giving away 41 runs in his 10 overs.

Martin Guptill remained the top scorer for the visitors as he scored 72 runs in his 84-ball knock, hitting 12 boundaries.

Tom Latham (39), Kane Williamson (41) and Ross Taylor (34) could not convert the start they got in the innings.

Umesh Yadav,Dhawal Kulkarni , Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel all picked up a wicket each for India.

The series is levelled at 2-2.
