Jonny Bairstow's fighting 89 helps England post 268/8

Mohali, Nov 26 (IBNS): On a day dominated by Indian bowlers, Jonny Bairstow (89) emerged as the only saviour for England whose gutsy fighting knock helped England score 268 runs for the loss of eight wickets at the end of the first day of the third Test here on Saturday.

England were left struggling at 87 for four when

Bairstow put up a strong battle against the home team to give some challenge to the side that are 1-0 up in the series.


Jayant Yadav picked up the English wicket-keeper.

Bairstow and Jos Butler (43) added 69 runs in the sixth wicket partnership.

The partnership helped England recover from the quick fall of wickets.

Umesh Yadav,Jayant and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each.
