Usain Bolt awarded IAAF World Athlete of the Year for the sixth time

Monte Carlo, Dec 3 (IBNS): Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man, was awarded the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Athlete of the Year (male) for a record sixth time, reports said.

The 30 year old achieved the 'triple-triple' during the Rio Olympics, earlier this year.

Bolt had earlier won the award in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Almaz Ayana of Ethiopia won the female award.

Ayana broke the 10,000 m world record this year and won the Olympic Gold in Rio this year.

Canadian Andre de Grasse won the male rising star award while Nafissatou Thiam of Belgium won the female equivalent.

Both de Grasse and Thiam are 22 years of age.

Harry Marra was awarded the IAAF Coaching Achievement Award.
